Temporal Portraits (2009 - 2010)

Temporal (Portraits) looks at the way that subjects posing for a portrait in a modern context unconsciously echo the poses and

expressions of our predecessors when painted by the old masters centuries ago.

The viewer, whether consciously or subconsciously, can pick up these

subtle references to our heritage contained in a mere gesture or a gaze – we all have them stored in the back of our heads.

Portraits from this project were selected by The Photographers Gallery for Fresh Faced Wild Eyed 2011, and by the Lausanne Musée de l’ Elysée to be part of reGeneration2 tomorrow's photographers today, which was published by Thames and Hudson in June 2010.
